Somerset West
Somerset West is part of the district of Stellenbosch, and was
named after Lord Charles Somerset in 1819. It is in the
Helderberg Basin, 6km inland from False Bay. The area is well
known for its flora, fauna, wines, fine dining, historical sights
and friendliness. Sporting facilities and activities include: bowls,
cricket, croquet, cycling, diving, fishing, horse riding, squash,
swimming, surfing, tennis etc. Opportunities for walking and hiking
enthusiasts abound. For example, the Helderberg Nature Reserve, the
Boland Hiking Trail, Helderberg Farm Trail and the Dick Dent Bird Sanctuary.
Somerset West is conveniently located to reach many destinations in the surrounding areas. For example, travelling by car, we are only:
